Marion Chester Hogg, 80, of Charlestown, Indiana, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

He was born on March 21, 1942, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, to Stephen Lowell Hogg and Mattie Stallard Dant Hogg. He was a 1960 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover, Indiana, where he was involved in FFA and was an excellent student, especially in mathematics. He served in the Army National Guard for six years from 1963 to 1969. He worked at Henry Vogt Tube Ice Machine Company in Louisville or more than 30 years. He spent many hours working in his garden and took great pride in keeping an immaculate lawn. He was an avid Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan and was known for telling jokes and tall tales or playing pranks to get a laugh.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Hogg Curtis of Charlestown; his sisters, Glenda Hogg Flynn and Launie Carlene Hogg Harrell both of Charlestown; and a granddaughter, a niece, a great niece and a great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and two nephews.

Cremation was chosen. Funeral service was Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. Private burial will be at a later date.
